Wedding Day Prep: Pro Tips for a Stress-Free Celebration

Planning a wedding is a beautiful whirlwind, and we’re here to help you glide through it with ease! Here are some tried-and-true tips to keep you glowing and stress-free on your big day from your photographer:


1. Practice Your Dip

You know that iconic "dip" shot? Make sure you’ve practiced it! Whether it’s for your first dance or those dreamy sunset photos, getting it just right will make for some stunning shots.

2. Sparkle & Shine

Get your ring cleaned the week of your wedding. Your photographer will thank you, and your ring will sparkle just like you!

3. Line-Free Glow

Avoid watch and sunglass tan lines by ditching them at least two weeks before the wedding. No one wants a surprise stripe on their wedding day. Especially large Apple Watches!

4. Tan Trials

Thinking of a sun-kissed look? Do a trial tan well in advance and take photos to make sure you love how it looks, especially on your hands. Find a good airbrush lady and avoid the spray machines.

5. Hair & Makeup Timing

Don’t be the last one to get your hair and makeup done! Schedule yourself earlier to avoid a last-minute rush and have time to relax. You can do touch up agains last but we can't the pictures rolling without the main star!

6. Flower Power

Pull your bouquets out of water about 30 minutes before the ceremony. This prevents any unexpected drips and keeps those blooms looking fresh.

7. Contracts are Key

Ensure every vendor has a signed contract. Yes, even the smallest details! It’s peace of mind for you and them. I cannot stress this enough !

8. Dresses Steamed & Ready

Steam those dresses or bring them along for a last-minute refresh. Wrinkle-free is the way to be! This also goes for matching robes or anything of that nature. Since we sometimes use these in pictures bringing a portable inexpensive steamer is probably best for a re-fresh.

9. Photo Time MVP

Designate a person who knows everyone’s names to help the photographer during family photos. Trust us, it speeds things up and ensures no one’s missed. We will ask you for a shot list , but we also have no idea who aunt Susan or uncle John are!

10. Boutonnière Assist

Assign someone to help with boutonnières. This task surprisingly takes longer than you’d think! ( Pro - tip : Check out the new trend of pocket boutonnière and magnet backed ones.

11. Bustle How-To

Have a video of your how to do your dress bustle from your seamstress. Sometimes you can ask them to send you one , or capture one yourself at fittings. This will be a lifesaver when it’s time to dance the night away!

12. Officiant Cue for the First Kiss

Make sure your officiant knows to step aside for the first kiss. You don’t want them photo-bombing that perfect moment! Assign a bridesmaid to gently remind them, even if it means a loving nudge.

13. Tidy Up the Prep Space

Keeping the getting-ready area tidy is a game changer. It makes for cleaner, more beautiful photos and keeps everyone calm and organized.

14. Detail Box Ready to Go

Have a detail box prepared with all your special items (rings, invitation, jewelry, etc.) for when your photographer arrives. It saves so much time and ensures we capture all those little details perfectly.
