February 15, 2025, was a day to remember as we had the absolute honor of capturing the wedding of Shanna and Tanner (now) Newman at The Barn at Sanderlin in Appling, GA. From our very first consultation with them at Starbucks, Taylor and I knew this was going to be something special. They shared their love story, their journey, and their deep devotion to their sweet daughter, Aubrey. The connection was instant—we just clicked, and we couldn’t wait to be a part of their big day!

Our adventure with Shanna and Tanner started with their engagement session at a chalk mine in Lincolnton, Georgia. And let me tell you, this session was nothing short of an adventure… mainly because I almost lost my life slipping down the terrain! But hey, we got a good scare-laugh out of it, captured some absolute dream shots, and got a great feel for Shanna’s style and preferences.

Then came the bridals, and oh boy, do I have a story for you. For the first (and hopefully LAST) time ever, we showed up at two completely different locations—blame the post-Christmas brain fog. Shanna was waiting at The Pine House, and I was an HOUR away when we realized the mix-up. Panic mode activated. Thankfully, the venue owner, Lisa Hankal, was an angel and let us stay longer than planned. I flew to the correct location, praying to the golden-hour gods to give us just a little extra time. And guess what? We slayed those bridals. Hair and makeup were flawless, the bouquet from Graceful Floral Designs was stunning (first time working with them, but wow—everything they did from bridals to the wedding day was phenomenal @graceful.floral.designs on Instagram), and the stress? Totally worth it.

And then… the BIG day.

The Barn at Sanderlin was as gorgeous as ever, with their newer groom’s quarters being the perfect addition. Shanna’s color palette of blues, greens, and pinks was absolute perfection. The couple’s first touch and private vows? Not a dry eye in sight. Rain made a few surprise appearances (hello, good luck!), which meant we couldn’t get the drone up, but we worked around it like the pros we are. I even snagged some cool behind-the-scenes footage on my Meta glasses, and we tested out our film camera for the first time ever! We used Kodak Ultra Color film, and I was amazed at how closely it matched my signature true-to-color edits. A dream.

One of the sweetest moments of the day was the first look between Tanner and their daughter, Aubrey. Pure. Magic. And the reception? Hands down, one of the hypest we’ve ever shot. Young, old, EVERYONE was on that dance floor busting out their best moves. Huge shoutout to Mike from M&S Mobile Productions (@djourwedding on Instagram - https://www.msmobileproductions.com) for bringing the vibes and keeping the party going! And can we talk about our planners? Palmetto River Planning (https://www.palmettoriverplanning.com) and the amazing Katie—who not only kept everything running smoothly but even called out my shot list during family photos. Literal wedding angel.

The night wrapped up with a bubble exit that was flawless, and we left completely exhausted but SO excited to dive into these photos. (Okay, maybe we danced a little while shooting—hey, that’s an upcharge for those sick moves). As expected, the photos? GOLD.
